Our history

SV Dakota championship team in 1951

A club built on belonging

From the championship teams of the early years to the generations carrying the yellow and black forward, SV Dakota is more than a football club. It is a family, a tradition, and a promise to play with discipline, respect, and bon futbol.

The story below is told through the names printed under each archive photograph: who played, who trained, who led, and how the same people kept coming back.

CHAPTER 01

The Boys of 1955, 1955

The oldest photographs in the archive show a club already full of young talent. The Dakota Boys of 1955 stand beside Frere Johannes, named as president, with Ronny Tromp, Milo Chirino, Modesto Desbarida, Otto Houtman, Ropi Malmberg, Lochi Zimmerman, Tulio Soto, Angel Krozendijk, Tico Guerrero, Danny Pablo, Tico Carolina and Dolfi Jansen.

The same year, the senior side had a name of its own: E fuerte equipo di Dakota den a klas. Juan Rodriguez, Kenneth Williams, Roberto Orman, Edgar Renfrum, Paco Correa, Franki Tromp, Jossy Giel and Doc Williams share the frame with Nufo Steba, Aquiles Pablo, Edgard Maduro and the Adonis brothers, Eddy and Frans.

Watch these names. Danny Pablo, a boy in the first photo, is back as a player in 1963. Nufo Steba and Aquiles Pablo carry on into the 1960s. Eddy Adonis returns again and again, until he is the trainer in 1971.

CHAPTER 02

The first banners, 1962 - 1963

In 1962 the word CAMPEON is printed across the shirts, and the team behind it becomes the spine of the decade. Tulio Soto is on the sideline as masajista. On the pitch are Geo Guerrero, Aquiles Pablo, Juancho Pablo, Edgard Maduro, Edgar Renfrum, Jubi Richardson, Juan Kelly, Eddy and Frans Adonis, Tirso Steba and Nufo Steba.

A year later the club is champion again, now in blue and gold stripes. Jimmy Richardson, Danny Pablo, Guillermo Trinidad and Dudu Adonis join the line-up.

Families run through these sheets. The Pablos, the Stebas, the Adonis brothers and the Richardsons all appear together, which says a lot about how Dakota was built: neighbours, brothers and friends playing for the same colors.

CHAPTER 03

A new kit every year, 1964 - 1966

The shirts change almost every season, but the faces stay. In 1964 Doc Williams stands with the squad and Guillermo Trinidad plays beside Jubi Richardson, Juancho Pablo, Geo Guerrero and the Stebas. In 1965 the club appears in red and black, with Richard Jacobs joining the group.

The 1965 photo at Anja shows the club as an institution: Maikel Muyale as president, with the board standing among players such as Oslin Toppenberg, Frank Richardson, Henki Braafhart, Jenny Loefstok and Ronny Ridderstap, and Tulio Soto looking after the team.

Then comes 1966, with a white shirt, a maroon band and a D on the chest. Jubi Richardson and Juancho Pablo are still there, joined by a new wave: Cedric Bronswinkel, Urbano Kock, Alwin Sluer, Bito Zimmerman and Melvin Loefstok.

CHAPTER 04

The unbeaten youth, 1968

The next generation announces itself in 1968, when the juveniles finish the season invicto, unbeaten. Robby Simon is the trainer, and the line-up reads like a preview of the senior team: Herman Dumfries, Bobon Richards, Erik Zievinger, Said Kock and Elgin Kock, alongside Rufo Winklaar, Roy Hodge, Bobita Tromp, Herbert Beeldsnijder, Julian Grell, Romeo Richardson, Mario Koolman and Gerrit Martha.

Within two years Herman Dumfries, Bobon Richards, Erik Zievinger and Said Kock are wearing the senior shirt, and Robby Simon appears on the 1970 trip to Medellin.

CHAPTER 05

Yellow and black, 1969 - 1971

In 1969 the club wins the title in yellow and black quarters, the colors Dakota is known by today. Doc Williams is the trainer, and the team is built from Jubi Richardson, Jenny Loefstok, Juancho Pablo, Herman Dumfries, Jimmy Richardson, Urbano Kock, Henki Braafhart, Erik Zievinger, Freddy Korsen, Richard Jacobs and Melvin Loefstok.

1970 brings another title, this time with Carlos Zimmerman, Roy Stephen and Bobon Richards in the squad and Rafael Plaza as masajista. That same year the club travels to Medellin, posing in maroon and white with match pennants in hand.

By 1971 there is a new kit and a new bench. Eddie Adonis, who first appears in the 1955 archive as a player, is now the trainer, with fresh names such as Reggie Beeldsnijder, Ruben Tevrede, Pedro Theodora, Raymond Celaire and Louis Richardson, next to veterans Jubi Richardson, Jenny Loefstok, Juancho Pablo and Frank Richardson.

CHAPTER 06

Legends and leaders, Archive

Some photographs belong to no single season. Jubi Richardson, whose name is in more line-ups than anyone else's, is remembered as e tremendo portero di Dakota, flying across the goalmouth while children watch from behind the net.

The three presidents photo shows Frere Johannes, Salomon de Castro and Guillermo P. Trinidad. Frere Johannes is the president of the 1955 Dakota Boys, and the name Guillermo Trinidad is in the line-ups of 1963, 1964 and 1965, so the club's leaders and its players were often the same people.

The last photo shows Dakota at Pabao during the annual Weganan games, with Hans Wiersma as referee and familiar names such as Eddy Adonis, Richard Jacobs and Oslin Toppenberg in the team.
